Sales in Ireland dropped by 28.8% for major carpet producer Victoria Carpets in the 13 weeks to 3rd July, but a flat performance in the UK and healthy growth in Australia helped the company to an overall double-digit sales climb during the period.
One of Scotland's largest single store independents has posted a near double digit sales rise to end March, while profits more than trebled. Allans Furniture, based in Glasgow, one of the most competitive furniture retail battlegrounds in the UK, made a £0.148m profit before tax on sales of £4.13m.
There will be no pre-pack administration at independent furniture retailer Proffitts of Bolton, says a spokesman for recovery outfit RSM Tenon, and any change in the ownership structure is likely to be a straight sale.
